Born in Murewa District of Mashonaland East in 1978 into an artistic family, Dougmore began carving fine art fine art and portraits on wood with his father Adriano Fombe at the age of fourteen. Later he joined other artists Kennedy and Brighton Musekiwa and Norbert Shamuyarira who taught him how to carve stone.
In 2006 his talent was discovered by Tendai Rukodzi who was working at Tsindi cooperative in Hatfield, Harare. Tendai encouraged Dougmore to join him there to assist with Tendai’s sculptures which were gaining international recognition. In 2007 Dougmore began working independently with his work attracting international collectors who featured his work in exhibitions Holland, Germany, the USA and Korea.
Recently Dougmore has been featured in local media for his large scale sculptures. He still works at Tsindi cooperative in Harare and is married with two children.
