Born in 1977 in Raffingora, a small town in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe.

Growing up near Guruve and Mvurwi in the heartland of sculpting in Zimbabwe he was inspired to learn stone carving after visiting Tengenenge artist community. He began in 1996 by assisting his brother Micheal Chapenga, who was already an established artist.

In 1998 he moved to Harare and began to work at Chitungwiza Art Centre where he stayed for few years before moving to Hatfield to become a resident of Tsindi Cooperative up until the present day. His style is influenced by the surrounding nature which he explores by carving abstract forms.
